Sunshines in the skies and frisbees throwing everywhere. Yes, it’s the feel of summer. You wear sundresses and put on your shades. What an awesome day. You walk into the drug store, and suddenly so many things you didn’t think you need until now.
Let’s see that list…
1. That red lipstick.
Who says red lips are only for winter? Well, that person clearly hasn’t had their eyes open in a while. While dark reds and maroons are better for colder seasons, orange or fiery reds are perfect for a sunny day out. Dress it up with perfect and flawless skin, put on some waterproof mascara, or heck just put on some cool shades and you’re good to go!
2. Tinted moisturiser.
Opt for a regular formula if you have dry skin, or go for the oil-free type if you have oily skin. Set it with a thin layer of loose powder and you’re good to go. Pair this up with your fire lips from above and be prepared to see heads turn as you walk by.
3. Non-greasy + non-cakey sunscreen.
The non-cakey part is essential. Well, actually the sunscreen part is the most essential. We don’t want skin cancer. But hey, don’t mess up your entire face with some terrible sunscreen. If you’re looking for a gentle formula, try Shiseido. If you’re looking for something completely matte, try Biore face milk or loose powder sunscreen from Peter Thomas Roth.
4. Lipbalm with SPF.
Because nobody like dry unkissable lips. Ew.
5. Juicy body wash.
Refreshing isn’t it? Shower or bathe in fruity summer scents. I know you can already imagine how this would affect your senses and stress level. Amen. If you’re not into fruity, give Neutrogena’s Rainbath a good try. Refreshing without the fruitiness.
6. Color popping blush tint.
Use lightly with bright lips and more intensively with a somewhat naked look. Pick one that could be applied on both cheeks and lips like Benetint if you like natural red cheeks and lips, or Posietint if you like popping pink! Or go for Tarte Amazonian Clay blush if you want a softer look. Another great line is Lola. My favourite one is Afternoon Delight. If you love the color of Nars’s Orgasm but hate the glitter, this is the one to go.
7. Waterproof mascara.
A great waterproof mascara is a girl’s best friend. Find a no clump no smudge formula. I love love love Lancome’s Hypnose Doll Eyes because of the no clumping formula, and the shape of the brush which lets you apply cleanly without smearing your lids or undereye. If that is an expensive option, try its sister brand that is a fraction in price: L’Oreal. Find brush type that you like, depending on the shape of lash you want, and go for it. Another pretty good one is Covergirl’s Lash Blast. Also, I usually hate Maybelline’s mascaras but found that Falsies has pretty awesome formula as well. Oh oh oh, another one I loveeeee which you may have never heard of: Fair Drops Platinum Film Type Mascara. It’s amazing. The best ever and so easy to wash off because of its film properties. The only thing I don’t really like about it is the huge brush which could be messy if you’re not careful. If I had to pick my most favourite mascara, it would be a tie between Lancome’s Hypnose Doll Eyes and Fair Drops Platinum Film.
8. Citrusy eu de toilette.
The light smell and freshness will make you feel light and happy all day. An awesome scent that makes you think of summer is all the Juicy Couture’s scents. But if you don’t want to over complicate, and want to go old school, please be introduced to good old 1844. It’s not expensive, yet hands down classy. I splash it on myself after shower and love the icy feeling with citrusy refreshing smell. I’m ready to start my day.
9. Bright gel effect nail polish.
Colorful is the way to go, and Gel Effect is the only classy option now that it exists (unless you completely go gel, which is also ultra classy). Give yourself a homemade manicure by soaking your hands in warm water with soothing salt. Put on some cuticle cream on and carefully trim off excess skin. Wipe your hands clean and apply some base coat before applying two layers of colorful gel effect nail polish. Wait until dry and apply some aromatic oil to finish. Repeat with your feet. Put on some sandals and off you go!
10. A really good face wash.
Do not underestimate the power of a clean face and flawless skin. To fix any problems, you have to start at the core of the problem, your skin. Of course you should drink lots of water and use good facial cream. ButSteer clear of cleansers with too much alcohol or perfume. If your face wash is not compatible or too rough on your skin, you could end up with breakouts or irritable skin. Best way to go is to use a gentle formula which still has the ability to thoroughly cleanse your skin. My favourite is Shiseido’s Perfect Whip. It’s truly amazing and I am on my 4th if not 5th tube (a little goes a long way!).
